Is there a rap crew loving brew more than Tha Liks? Probably not. One of many favorites of J-Ro, Tash and E-Swift is of course Olde English. Before releasing their 1993 debut album "21 & Over", the trio made an appearance on mentor King Tee's single "Got It Bad Y'all". In the first verse, J-Ro lets us know: "I drink Olde English, St. Ides and Mickeys." The following hook reveals the preferred one of the mentioned 40 oz. malt liquors: "What's your favorite brew? Olde E! And what it make you do? Go pee!".

And when the said album came out shortly after, you only had to take a look at the cover to know that the L.A. trio loved malt liquor more than anything:

21 & Over

In the following years Tha Liks made countless other references to Olde English and co., one of them is the cover of the promo cassette "40 Ounce Sampler" from 1997:

Whether at a show or in a song: rappers love to check out who's in the house. Tha Liks are no exception to this rule, as their 1993 hit single "Make Room" ends like this: "Olde English is in the house and uhh!/what about Mickey's? Is in the house and uhh!/St. Ides is in the house and uhh...Colt 45 is in the house and uhh..."

Make Room

The "Make Room" video however does not feature the shout outs mentioned above, as Tha Liks decided to cut the song off to make room (pun intended) for the single's b-side "Last Call". This of course, is a last call for alcohol, and shows that the trio even takes some malt liquor to the bar. Here's a quote from Tash: "And I'm about to flip, but first I'm 'bout to sip off the forty ounce of brew that I was savin' for the trip." Bottoms up!

Hennessy has been a Liks favorite since day one. And the back cover of the trio's 2006 comeback album "Firewater" proved that Tha Liks and Hennessy is a never ending love story:

Tha Liks' resume is full booze anthems like "Only When I'm Drunk", "Last Call", "Bottoms Up" or "Keep It Pourin'". The biggest anthem of them all however is their '97 single "Hip-Hop Drunkies" featuring Ol' Dirty Bastard. The music video shows countless quotes of famous liquor and beer labels: Beck's, Olde English, Heineken, Hennessy, Foster's, Stolichnaya, and many more...
